Tim Vidas

Hi. I'm a Senior Technology Research...actually I guess you can just look here for the semi-official bio.

Don't let the website fool you. We are very active here at NUCIA, we are just very far behind on updating the website with papers, presentations, and 'current events.'

Odds are you found this page either through direct referal from me, or through a search engine's index. You are most likely looking for information on some of our community outreach, Rapid Response CyberForensics, or are trying to inquire about Guidance Software's EnCase Intermediate training (that I teach at PKI about 3 times annually) or AccessData's BootCamp or Windows classes which are each offered at PKI once a year, about 6 months apart.

Classes going on right now:
CSCI 4380

There is also the outside chance you are looking for information about a project. Currently there are two:

Tim's GMapper(link to project page)
GMapper's goal is to create geo-cache / stamp like maps without requiring any input from the user (typically a user must tell a mapping service where a photo was taken by entering coordinates or by clicking on a map. GMapper takes advantage of GPS feilds in EXIF so that "auto-mapping" is possible when photos are taken with a compatible camera.

ProcessLocator(link to download)
ProcessLocator (actually procloc) is getting some attention and probably deserves a little more description, maybe even it's own page...anyway, it's basically a proof of concept that locates process structures in an image (copy) of MS Windows (tm) RAM (or a crash dump). It's pretty usable, and stable, but is definiately still in proof of concept stage. There is a lot more that could be added.
2006.08.02 - Updated Version to 0.7. Considering porting to a different language after taking a lot of serious crap from antendees at Black Hat USA 2006

I can be contacted initially through the contact page.
